Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Court date scheduled when court was closed

I received a driving with suspended license summons in Kenilworth, NJ(planned to plead NOT guilty) and when I showed up for the court time printed on the ticket, the duty cop looked at the ticket and said the court was closed. Does this by any chance mean that I am off the hook?

Re: Court date scheduled when court was closed

No, not only do you still have to go to court, you better hope that there is no warrant out for your arrest. The cop may have made a mistake, but the court could have been expecting you on another date. You were not there, so there could be a warrant.

Regardless, that is a very serious ticket, so I suggest you see an attorney ASAP to discuss the case. Feel free to call me to discuss it.

The date placed on your traffic summons was a mistake by the issuing officer which was uhfortunate but which does not let you off thehook. Get an attorney.
