I want to fire my private attorney who is supposed to supposed to represent me in court in a couple days. He told me I cant fire him only the judge can. Is this true? Who would be the best person to contact with this issue if not?

He is nuts. You have a constitutional right to have counsel of your choice. He is history. Just
hire someone else and the new lawyer would get rid of this guy.
Call me if you like.
There has to be something more to it....have you been to Court multiple times and the Judge will not allow for any more postponements? You could always just show up with new counsel, as long as that new counsel is ready to go forward with the case. A lot of times in NJ I make my initial appearance and try the case all in one day......
You have the right to use whomn you feel comfortable with
When you get to court, you can let the judge know how you feel...
Or send a letter to the lawyer and copy the court clerk---or call the court clerk and tell them your feelings
Not sure which area your case is in, but if you wish to chat, call me at 215 732 4000

Technically, the judge has to give permission. However, as a practical matter, the only reason a judge would have for caring is if it looked like having the attorney leave would unreasonably delay the case. If you get a new attorney who is ready to get things done, the judge is unlikely to interfere.
