He is nuts. You have a constitutional right to have counsel of your choice. He is history. Just

hire someone else and the new lawyer would get rid of this guy.

There has to be something more to it....have you been to Court multiple times and the Judge will not allow for any more postponements? You could always just show up with new counsel, as long as that new counsel is ready to go forward with the case. A lot of times in NJ I make my initial appearance and try the case all in one day......

When you get to court, you can let the judge know how you feel...

Or send a letter to the lawyer and copy the court clerk---or call the court clerk and tell them your feelings

Technically, the judge has to give permission. However, as a practical matter, the only reason a judge would have for caring is if it looked like having the attorney leave would unreasonably delay the case. If you get a new attorney who is ready to get things done, the judge is unlikely to interfere.
