It is difficult to answer your question because there are various tickets or grades of tickets that might be called "leaving the scene," and because I do not know enough about the facts of your case. However, with that said, if you were written up under NJSA 39:4-129(d), which is leaving scene of accident only involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, then the potential penalties are, for first offense only::

$200 - $400 in fines and/or not more than 30 days in jail, 6 months lic. suspension, and two points. The $200 - $400 does not generally include court costs, etc. so the above penalties will actually be increased with their addition.

Six month loss of driver license, fine of $200.00 to $400.00, possible imprisonment for up to thirty days. This all assumes first offense. Penalties for second (or third) offense are higher.
