Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Semi idealing question

My husband is a semi driver. This week he was on the east coast and it was 20 degrees out. He ran out of hours and stopped at a truck stop to sleep. He knew he was in a no idealing area but was very cold so he asked the store workers if he could ideal his truck. They told him they didnt see a problem with it. In the middle of the night he was woken by an angry neighbor that told him to shut his truck off. My husband turned the heat full blast to let his truck get warm then turned the truck off. About and hour later a police officer showed up and gave him a ticket. The ticket says he must appear in court. My husband asked how he received a ticket when his semi was off. The officer said because he had a specific complaint about my husband's truck. Isnt that hear say? Is there any law that a semi can idea in extreme conditions? Im just confused and think this situation was taken to the extreme.

Re: Semi idealing question

A good attorney may be able to get rid of this right away if what your husband says is correct. If the tickets is in NJ but you live in TN, an attorney in NJ can appear on his behalf without him having to be there.
