Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
unaware I was not insured
I purchased a used vehicle on may 21st. Received a quote and was issued a new geico insurance policy number the same day, registered the vehicle, picked it up and drove it home. Of course I got pulled over and was asked for all the info. I received a ticket for failure to show proper documents(insurance card). Went home to print out the email from geico stating i was covered. Only problem is It did not go into effect until 12:01am the following day. Then I read on the internet that It is a mandatory one year licencse suspension. I Drive for a living and cannot have this happen. I have no prior problems and it was an honest mistake. Do I need a lawyer?
Thanks in advance

Good God, yes, you should hire an attorney. YOur job is on the line. Hire an attorney who is reasonably near you, who can clearly explain that the attorney has a lot of traffic court experience ( in court at least once per month, more is better, for at least a couple of years). Have the attorney clearly explain what you can do to fight this, and whether the attorney thinks you can win. If the explanation is not clear, leave and get another attorney.

Once your license is lost in court for no insurance you will be unable to drive legally for a year. You need to protect what makes your employment possible and puts bread on your table.
Hire an attorney, a good one.
