Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
If I am waiting in the left hand turn lane and then decide to not wait at the light, back up a little and then make a right on red, is that illegal?

Backing against the flow of traffic is illegal. Also crossing the solid white line when you drove to
your left is illegal. You werre apparently in the left turn lane at an intersection and were required
to turn left.
Call me if you like.

Yes, backing up into traffic could probably be a violation of the illegal backing or turning statute, or possibly even careless driving. If you were charged with any violation because of this please contact me. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
