Discharged for personality disorder

I was discharged from the USMC in 1994 with a Personality Disorder. I applied for VA Disability compensation and in 8/95 was rated at less than 10% for neck spasms and not rated for the personality disorder, stating I missed a psychiatric evaluation.

It's been many years since and my psychiatric issues are not only still here, but worsening.

Is it possible to have the case re-evaluated? Are Personality Disorders compensatable? Has it been too many years?

Get a psychiatric evaluation at the VA hospital and if you are diagnosed with a mental illness then apply again for VA disability for the condition identified. At this initial level you can ask various veterans organizations to help you with your claim. If you win, great. If not, then they can help you appeal the denial. Only after you get a final DENIAL of your claim by the Board of Veteran's Appeals are you allowed to have a lawyer file a further appeal on your case.

It is not too late to reopen your case. Contact one of the service organizations such as PVA or DAV to assist you with your claim.
