Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

Estate

My mother passed away and left the house to all five children, which is the estate. She left a life insurance policy with me as the sole beneficiary, is this also part of the estate? She gave a lot of money to my siblings when she was alive and only wanted me to have this money. I don't want any problems with my siblings, is there any way they can find out about this money?? I do want to share it with 2 of my siblings, but not the others that got so much when she was alive.

Re: Estate

The life insurance is not part of your mother's probate estate. If the proceeds are payable directly to you, then your siblings have no interest in the money you receive. You can certainly elect to share the money with some of your siblings but not others...that's up to you to decide.
