Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My sister threatened to keep money my father left me as she was named Executrix. I received a stock and her lawyer sent me a document to sign taking thousands out of my disbursement for the sale of his house. I refused to sign and told him to send me the document in accordance with my father's will. He threatened that if I didn't sign the document he would take me to court and take double that. I refused again whereupon he threatened me a 2nd time, and I refused again. I heard nothing until 3 weeks later I received a letter from him stating they would give me my full disbursement if I signed a paper stating I would make any additional claims against the estate. I am suspicious of anything they do now. I had asked for a full accounting and only received a cursory one. My husband said I wasn't asked to sign that with the first document they sent. How can I hold them accountable - how can I find out if she hid other money or diverted it?

You need to get your own estates lawyer to demand a formal accounting. Don't waste time seeking other answers. by doing so you may lose rights that you have. If you are the same person who posted a similar question a week ago, you will obviously get the same answer, and you are wasting time. Please engage your own estates lawyer.

THIS RESPONSE IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE, SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED, AND I DO NOT HAVE A REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT WITH YOU.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
