Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

My father was injured at work and was out of work for quite some time. He was collecting disability and compensation. The had wanted to settle for 200,000 but he was holding out. He has now since passed away. I was just curious if I should contact them about receiving his settlement?

The right to the claim passes via the intestacy or estate laws of New York. Your answer depends on the nature of the claim, the applicable statute of limitations, whether your father had a will, whether there are other children, etc.

I'd be happy to help steer you in the right direction if you wish to email me the particulars.

Good luck!
