Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

do i need a lawyer for small claims court? I took out a student loan for my ex boyfriend to buy a car. he is supposed to make payments but refuses. i dont have a written contract.

You don't need a lawyer for small claims court.

A loan does not have to be in writing. However, you should have sufficient evidence to support your claim (witness testimony, e-mail, texts, etc.)
