Legal Question in Banking Law in New York
How do I go about obtaining copies of bank statements/cancelled checks of my deceased mom that go back 20 years?
My name was on her checking account along with her name and my brother had power of attorney when she was alive.
We just recently found old checking account statements with unusual activity on them.

If your name is on the account, it will be quite easy to discuss the account with the bank. However, even if the bank keeps records that far back, it will be quite expensive to obtain the documents. Moreover, at this point, even if your brother did violate his duties under the power of attorney, the statute of limitations has probably passed to pursue him.
