Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
what is the role of a bankruptcy lawyer after you file? I received 5 motions to appear and did not know should my attorney have told me?

Your attorney represents you throughout the entire case until a judge says otherwise. Separately, motions for the debtor to appear indicate something very serious is going on - perhaps your attorney is asking to get out of the case and the judge wants to hear from you.
Sounds like you've ignored the first four motions. Not smart. Call the attorney.
