Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York
surrogate court
My friends husband paased away not leaving a will. His wife was given control of his newspaper business pending the surrogate court giving her ownership. The business is going bankrupt is she responsible for any debt from the busisness?

I don't have enough information to competently answer your question, and the widow, not you, will have to consult an attorney to weed through this.
The only piece of advice I can give without reservation is that your friend does need a lawyer and should hire on with whom she is comfortable.
