Legal Question in Business Law in New York

business to business work

My Husband owns a auto shop ,he did work for a business on their work there are 2 partners in this business 1 partner went away and the other one said he doesn't want to pay for the job that my husband did,the partner offered less money .The agreement for the job and amount was between my husband and one partner at first but the other partner knew the truck was being worked on.How can my huband get the full amount owed to him?

Obviously, he should always retain the vehicle until payment in full is received. He may have to sue to obtain payment for the services performed.

He needs to hire a lawyer familar with the lien law. He is a mechanic and is entitled to certain protections. If you are located on Long Island, a call to the County Bar Association in your county will yield the names of some very good lien law lawyers. A business like yours ought to have one on monthly retainer.
