Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Incorporation

I am planning to start a home based business where I am the only employee. It will deal mainly with selling on the web. I wish to incorporate. I have found many companies charging many different fees to do this service for me. Can you tell me what is REALLY required and what the cost would be? Also who would I contact...forms, etc.? Thank you.

Re: Incorporation

The filing fee in New York to form a corporation can be as low as $135.

You can get the forms on the web. Download from New York State-Secretary of State.

You can also buy the forms at any stationary store at a nominal cost.

A corporate kit and share certificates cost about $75.

If you hire a lawyer, the fee for incorporation runs around $100 + or -, depending on the services you request and need.

Forming the corporation is the easy part; you may want organization minutes prepared, share certificates prepared and issued, a lease to be reviewed, various contracts prepared and reviewed, bank facilities opened, etc., etc. These services cost fees, generally based on time.
