Legal Question in Business Law in New York
Repossessing product
I am a Canadian company that sold my product to a customer in New York. They still owe me half of the money. I wanted to know what I would have to do to repossess my product

Re: Repossessing product
It you retained a security interest in the merchandise you sold to your New York customer, you can proceed as provided in that document. Otherwise, you would have to bring a lawsuit against the customer, prevail and then proceed under your judgment.
Re: Repossessing product
It depends upon the nature of the product and the method by which you sold it. Did you retain a security interest? If so, how was it secured?
I'd be happy to discuss the many variations and permutations with you. Please feel free to get in touch.
Re: Repossessing product
Unless there was a security interest which seems unlikely, you would need to hire local counsel to initiate a lawsuit in the county where your customer is located. This area of law is our specialty, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
