Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York

fire

we had a small electrical fire, in which our alrms system called us and ask if we needed assistance, we replied no we out it out but send fire dept just in case, the fire was in a bedroom in the back of the house and contained to that room, the fire dept in turn called the town inspecter, who came and inspected the whole house, for reasons unknown, we are wondering what are our rights as home owners, or does the fire and town have rights t come in aqnd look around the entire house at there leasure

Not at thier leisure, but once there is a fire the town has a right to send out a fire inspector to make a determination as to cause. Incidentally, if in doing the inspection, the inspector comes across contraband, you can be prosecuted even though the contraband wasn't the subject of the initial search.
