Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in New York
i was recently robbed and chose not to file charges, the person paid back the amount of which was stolen. We both signed papers that it was paid but but I want to sue for pain and suffering can i do that

When you said you "signed papers" what exactly do you mean?
If you signed a settlement agreement, it all depends on what you agreed to in those "papers."
Pull the "papers" you signed and see exactly what you agreed. If you agreed the money received relieves the person of all obligations and liability relating to and arising from the "robbery," you might have waived all rights to sue him.
Take what you signed to an attorney to determine if you can get a second bite of the apple.
