Do you mean share via Kazaa or some other P2P?

Do you mean share between unrelated unauthorized possessors of electronic files?

Do you mean share for profit?

Do you mean share for educational purposes?

In general, if you are an author and you are the one doing the sharing and you are doing it voluntarily, that is legal. In general if someone not an author or owner of a copyrighted work is sharing in an unapproved manner, that is illegal.
