Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
i have a consumer problem. i asked a bed store to hold a $5,000 bed for me while i was moving, and they agreed. The store is called Euro-Moda on Mcdonald avenue. The lady said that if they sold the bed that i would receive the money, otherwise it would be in storage. when i finally moved and went to pick up my bed,she said that she sold it and is keeping the money. I have taped conversations as proof. she did not want to to refund anything or even listen to me.she said to sue her. I fear she won't show up to civil court.can u please give me a phone number or organization that can help me bring justice. i am a single mother with 3 children and don't know who to turn to.please if u can help me i would appreciate it.
also would the general attorney office help me with this problem?

I would commence a small claims action. I assume that the store is located in Brooklyn, therefore, the small claims action would be commenced in Civil Court, Kings County. You can obtain information on how to commence a small claims action at the Civil County Clerk's Office - at Livingston Street.
When you fill out the form, make sure to tell the whole story - not just "owes $5,000". Make sure to have the receipt for your bed. Have witnesses to the transaction. And, have the tape.
Once you receive a Judgment, you may contact a City Marshal to help you collect.
Mike.
