Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York
house rent
i am living in my sister property since last 6 years. now they are asking me for rent. i dont have any agreement in writen. now they gave me notice through lawyer. asking me for rent and vacant the property

If you don't have a lease and are not paying rent, then you may have a right to delay their getting you to move out, but you don't get to stay in someone else's home for free forever. It sounds like you would be better off cooperating with them so that you have a better chance of leaving on better terms and with a little bit of control over when you go; otherwise, it sounds like they will eventually have a sheriff move you out.
