Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Bank freeze

I was evicted from apt in NY and court has ordered me to pay $3000 plus the accumulated interest. The plaintiff's lawyer freezed my bank account for more than a year. In the meantime, I have quit my job and moved to another state. My question is can they freeze my bank account in another state? I'm not paying them because they kept $500 plus house hold items worth $400 which plaintiff kept when I was evicted. I have contacted their lawyer many times but they're refusing to acknowledge the fact that they do owe me that money. $500 was co-op apt's moving in fee. I need some help please. Thank you.

Re: Bank freeze

The fact that the court ordered you to pay $3000 plus interest is the important thing. You do not have the right to amend what the court found (you do have the right not to pay-but they have the right to try to enforce the court's Order (or judgment) without your cooperation.

Re: Bank freeze

The time to have complained about the monies they kept was then, not now.
