Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

collecting debt

Dear Lawyers:

I, the Judgment Creditor, had a first

unsuccessful interrogatory to collect

my Judgment (small claim). My

Judgment Debtor hides all real and

personal assets. I can only get

SSN, Driver's License, and current

living address from the debtor.

What are the options do I have

now? If I need help from the

professionals, are they (collection

agency, lawyer, private

investigator...etc.) approach or

process differently?

Thank you for answering my

question.

Re: collecting debt

You would appear in need of assistance in locating assets of your judgment debtor such as garnishable wages or bank accounts which are more likely to be conducive to quickly satisfying your apparently modest claim. A person who specializes in locating these kinds of assets such as a private investigator might be worth hiring for a few hours of his or her investigative time.
