Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

I am Rose Marie Proctor My question is in regard to my mother Lillian Buckley who is 82 years of age. Mrs Buckley co-signed for a car for her grandson-in-law He was murdered in 2007. Her granddaughter continued to pay on the car. In 2008 the car was totaled. My mother has continued to make payments on this car. Now the bank want her to refinance to pay for insurance on a car that doesnot exist. What recourse if any is there? Neither the bank or the insurance co. will talk to me about it because my name is not on any of the information. This is causing much stress and financial strain for my mother. Am in hopes that you can give us an answer.

Waiting to hear...

Regards,

Rose Marie
