Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Hello, I am 17 years old and my boyfriend is 18 years old.
We were in the park literally across the street from where I live at around 8-8:30pm.
At first we were in the playground but the parks department were closing the playground and told us we could sit on the park bench outside the playground, and that s what we did.
Then a cop car rolled up and asked what we were doing and asked for IDs. I was confused, and we both gave them our IDS. (I only had a student ID)
And around 20 minutes later, we get back these pink summons slips. I m really frustrated because I want to be a lawyer, I don t want this on my record.
On the slip the time says 8:33pm. However, dusk today in NYC was at 8:42pm according to google.
We were not outside after dusk????? We were just sitting on a bench talking.

Any charge under the Park Rules is a misdemeanor so I suggest that you hire a good criminal defense lawyer. I handle these cases all the time.
This can be very satisfactorily resolved.I handle matters such as yours on a daily basis. The usual result is either an ACD or a violation with a small fine. Neither result will affect your future aspirations. Please contact my office @ 718-834-0087 for a free phone consultation.
