Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I was arrested for the first time for petty larceny. I took 22.00 dollars in food from a supermarket. I have a desk appearence ticket for Oct 5, 2010. Do I need a lawyer for this appearence?

It would be recommended to have an experienced lawyer with you defending you and preserving your rights in court. It would also greatly increase the chance of lowering the charges or possible dismissal. We have substantial experience handling these types of cases and reasonable fees, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. It would be to your advantage to retain an experienced criminal defense attorney. You are facing possible jail but most likely a permanent criminal record. To protect your rights and interests ,please retain a private attorney if you can afford one. I handle these matters on a daily basis with very good results. You may contact my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
