Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Hello I am Brianna Spencer and I am writing you to see if you can help me and my friend when out petit larceny charge . I'm really scared because I am a college student and the profession I am working towards is childhood education and this charge can crush my dreams. I've made a horrible and stupid mistake. My friend Liquil Moore got charged also just for being with me. What should I plea ? Can I be expunged because it's my first offense? What should I do ? I've literally been crying and throwing up since yesterday when it happened. I'm extremely short on money as a regular college student. I don't want this mistake to ruin my bright future or to my friend either because it wasn't her fault.

It mostly depends upon where the incident took place. There are some jurisdictions that have diversionary programs ,which if successfully completed result in the charges being dropped. There are other jurisdictions where there are available "plea bargains" that will also result in you not having a criminal record.
