Hire the boy a good qualified Criminal lawyer. Someone who has some background in felony trial work. This is not the kind of charge that should be left to a rookie, or someone who only dabbles in criminal law.

If that lawyer has handled cases in Family court that is a plus. Cases like these need thorough investigation and preparation. Kids are not often given a jury so the case has to be tried to a judge further complicating the issues. Even if the kid is guilty, a strong defense could keep him out of jail or juvi. The only advice to give to someone who is charged with a felony is GET A GREAT CRIMINAL LAWYER.

1. Get a competant lawyer to assist in handling the matter.

2. be extremely courteous and respectful with the investigating officers and DA but say that you want to work with them through your lawyer. express sympathy for the accuser and point out that sometimes the initial person is accused is not the true criminal. DO NOT SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THE ACCUSER AT THIS TIME.

(i) You want to cooperate through your lawyer.

(ii) You are hoping this is a misunderstanding or misidentification

(iii) you have sympathy for the accuser and her parents.

That is the best you can do at this time to help your son in this difficult situation. Just remember that at 15 a kid is not a finished product. i don't know what he did or didn't do, but even good kids sometimes get into trouble. And at 15, he is not a finished product. get

Retain a competent criminal defense attorney.Make no statements or have no meetings with ANYONE without your attorney present.I presume this case will be handled in Family Court so be very careful, the child needs a good attorney in order to avoid what may be severe penalties.
