Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

my mother in-law recently had her husband arrested for hitting their child, the husband moved out. She was in desperate need of money and asked if i would advertised some of her husband's tools online to sell. I did so. After selling some of the tools I gave her the $400 that was made. she is now getting back together with her husband and he wants me arrested. He said that if I dont give him $3,000 by this monday he was going to the D.A. and having me arrested. what can happen and what could i do? thank you

First, go to an attorney and get them up to speed. Second, if you were given the tools by your mother in law then you should not be responsible. You should not talk about this to anyone except an attorney.
