Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Sealing a record

I would like to know what steps must I take in order to get my criminal record sealed. I unfortunately made a mistake and was charge with a misdemeanor for petit larceny. That is my first offense. I would like to have my record sealed b/c I am having some problems now due to the fact that I have this charge with obtaining an apt. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sealing a record

Everyone makes mistakes. I am impressed that you recognize the significance of these events. As a criminal law attorney, I have observed that not everyone does. The people that don't often offer me 'repeat customers'.

Regarding your question, your record can be sealed by a motion on notice pursuant to PL 160.50 (I am relying on memory for the statute's number. In my practice I look EVERYTHING up).

It is not a difficult or expensive action and I would be happy to assist you.

You are welcome to a consultation for no fee at my offices at 42 west 44th street, NY,NY. Please call for an appointment first (646) 591-5786.
