Legal Question in Family Law in New York

back child support from 8 years ago

My x-wife filed for back c/s plus, she claims that I owe her part of equtable distribution cash from our original divorce agreement, signed 8 years ago. I heard that she may not go beyond 6 years. this is in supreme court, new york.

As far as the property, yes the statute of limitations is 6 years. However, the statute of limitations for child support has been amended to 21 years. If I were you, I would attempt to resolve the child support arrears because she may prevail on that issue. Additionally, the sanctions for outstanding arrears can be as extreme as incarceration.
