Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Support from Non-American Citizen

Both the father of my child and I work for the United Nations overseas. My son and I are US Citizens; however, the father is not a US Citizen. My son's father residence is in NY and he owns his home on Long Island, NY. The father has a social security number and bank accounts in NYC. Can I legally collect child support from my son's father although he is not a US Citizen? Regards.

Re: Child Support from Non-American Citizen

You can file a petition and obtain a Order of Support, which should be enforceable here in NY since he has property here. The problem may be serving him with the Summons for the court appearance(s).
