Legal Question in Family Law in New York
my daughter who was taken from me several years ago will be 18 in november and her adoptive mom tells me she can never come home because she now has adult supervision. what does that mean? and what are my legal rights when she turns 18?

Lucky for you and your daughter, you know her identity. Despite her mother's apparent fear about the entire situation, she'll just have to get over it when your daughter turns 21. Unfortunately, a person is not a legal adult until 21. So, wait three years and start the relationship. Of course, if she moves to another state that recognizes a person to be an adult at 18, you can start a relationship at that point.
