Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Ex-husband moves out of state

Was divorced last year. Husband suppose to pay support payments each month - He paid regular each month until November. DId not notify me - just retired early and moved to New York. He now lives in town with his Mother and Sister. I personally live on a fixed income. He has not paid support payment this month and from what I have heard from the friends he left behind doesn't intend to and that New York State will not honor the court laws here.So my question is : Is it worth it to pay a lawyer to hold him in contempt of court? I was told by friends that NY state would not arrest him or make him pay his support payments . He would only be arrested if he ever showed up in Florida. - If the laws are that weak I don't want to spend more money on a lawyer when in reality there is little to be done.? I would be willing to spend the money providing I could be assured that in the end he would have to pay so anyone out there sure would appreicate an answer - Thank YOU SO Much --name removed--

Re: Ex-husband moves out of state

Please be reassured - NY will take aggressive action to force payment of child support. At the very least, his retirement will be garnished (the amount will be subtracted before he receives anything.)

Take action with confidence. This is an important fight and the courts will stand behind you.
