Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Finances

My husband had a work related accident in 1997 while working as a laborer in the construction field. He sued the company that he was working and around Jan/Feb of this year at his trial he was awared 1.7 million dollars. He is a very secretive person, does not share any finances with me. He also got a lump sum of approximately 40,000 for Social Security Disability in November of last year which I was not aware of. I learnt it from coming across his bank statement which he forgot in his pocket seeing that his mail goes to his friend's P.O Box. I just learnt from his friends wife yesterday that her daughter advised her that my husband's daughter told her that he is going to purchase a house in her name which leads me to believe that he received the settlement money and is once again keeping me in the dark. What is my legal rights in this matter. Thank you

An attorney will be able to explain what rights you have to each of the assets you and your husband hold before your husband makes it impossible for you to get any of them in a divorce, which is what I would do if my partner were this secretive. But maybe what you have works for you, if you have your own financial security.
