Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have fired my divorce attorney, who remains court-ordered escrow agent, holding transfer of title to the marital home until equitable distribution is paid into escrow. At such time, the deed is to be released to my wife and the ED award to me. Problem is my former attorney insists she will take her fee out of the ED award and distribute the remainder to me. I believe this is inappropriate and am currently Pro Se. All comments welcome

You didn't state why you fired your attorney or the terms of your agreement with him/her. In any event, if you are in a fee dispute with your attorney, you can contact the New York Courts regarding this issue. I've included a link below that provides general information about the process.
