Legal Question in Family Law in New York
My husband came home in Sept and told me he wanted a divorce. He still wants to live with me, share all bills, but be "free", is his words
that was Sept, and since, i have found out that he has purchased 2 rental houses for investment purposes.
as part of my "payoff" is he going to pay off my car and credit card. He can't touch my house as it was mine before we met and married.
I really feel like he used me, to come to this country and get him thru college. so my question is. how long can i delay my signature after he goes and gets his papers.?
he told me this week his uncle sent him the money for the lawyer and my pay off.
He says he has been thinking of this for 3 years and never mentioned it. I have not done any infidelity things and he has no cause. apparently his lawyer told him to make up one. I make a much lower income than him, and after college, i thought i would then put away for my retirement and would have him to fall back on. surprise surprise

You need to go to a skilled family law expert and hire them immediately before you end up out on the street. Your husband is treating you like a fool and is probably hiding all the money. Get a lawyer IMMEDIATELY, not a chep one but one with a reputation in your area as a strong family law trial attorney. He or she can probably make your husband pay for the legal counsel. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT A LAYWER!!! Do not be pennywise and pound foolish. Good luck!!
