Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My husband after 7 years of marriage wants out of the marriage. He has told my parents his family along with my sister and her husband. He is now sleeping in another area of the home. Has all his household and personal information under lock and key. Sending all his mail to his mothers. Now he is trying to push me to getting the divorce or separation started. Should I sit on this or not. Can I contact my lawyer to contact his to se what is the hold up?Thank You. E- young
