Legal Question in Family Law in New York

This is a legal advide regarding divorse from New York, NY

I have money in the bank that I want ot use to buy a coop

apartment. The money is under my name and it was earned

by me.

If I get divorse in the future, would I have to share

this apartment with my wife?

Is there any legal document that she can sign now that would

prevent her from taking or claimming part of the asset in the future?

Is the money marital? The question can't be answered fully without examining the way the money was acquired - and without knowing the status of the divorce case.

The best way to protect yourself is to have her sign a postnuptial agreement as soon as possible. http://www.nycdivorcecenter.com
