Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Mi divorce was finalized in Supreme Court in Nassau County, Ny. My ex-husband then appealed the judges decision and his appeal was rejected. he then appealed the decision with the appellate court.

We were to go to trial on a Monday and the Friday before he recinded his appeal. That cost me $1000.00 in leagl fees. I am being told that because the case never went to trial in the appellate court

that I have no means to recoup my legal fees. Is this true, or is there someway to get some if not all my legal fees back???

You would have to go back to court with a motion and you would have to prove that your ex was being malicious or that his appeal was totally frivolous, very difficult burdens. The cost of a lawyer to do this would exceed what you previously spent.
