Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I fell behind on my payments to my storage company, i do think i have a organization who can help but that is not for a couple of weeks. i got a phone call 1 month before its to be auctioned off (feb 5) and not one letter or any calls prior. i called to try to make some payments prior to paying it off (been there 2 yrs and never late till oct , with sandy and hours cut at work fell on hard times) they were very nasty. my parents are dead and the little i have from them is in there along with personal tax records. help what do i do? someone told me to do an order to show cause but i have no clue to what that is
