Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

I am a 36 year old male living in the UK. I have both an Australian and British passport and was born in the UK. I am not married and have no kids.

I would like to emigrate to the US. What is the best option for me with regards to a green card. Being born in the UK does not allow me to enter the green card lottery.

I have 9 years I.T. experience and 7 years as a commercial pilot. I hold an Australian, South African and European commercial pilots license. I have no degree, but do have an aviation diploma which covers 2 years of study.

I would like to do more study in the US, but also need to be able to reside and work there on a full time basis. I have no family there, but do have close personal friends living there.

I have no offer of employment over there either. I would need t convert to the US or FAA commercial license before I could fly as a pilot for an airline in the US

What would be considered my best options with regards to getting in.

This is a very broad question. At this time, in your post, you didn't provide any specific indication as to how you personally can be eligible for a Green Card (permanent residency in USA).

In order for you to work and live in the US you need a work permit or green card.

Due to your situation the best route for you would be to get an employment related job offer wherein the employer will sponsor your H1-B visa so that you could work and live here legally.

I am aware of American companies placing job recruiting advertisements in various English newspapers such as: The Telegraph; The Guardian; The Independent; and The Times.

Please note that various states such as New York and South Carolina also recruit teachers and nurses from the UK.
