Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Hi All

I'd appreciate it very much if someone can help me with this dilemma. I married my wife in Pakistan in September and sponsored her to the states in October. So hopefully she'll be here in October of this year. Her brother got married after her around April to someone who lives in Pakistan. Her brothers in-laws however are migrated to the states Last year in July 09.

So they are mulling over how to sponsor him right now. Basically there are two choices, sponsor my brother - in - law through my wife, OR because his wife will be sponsored soon after her parents get a green card, have him sponsored as a husband to the wife of someone being sponsored. I know its a bit confusing but

basically, I want to know in terms of time how long it takes

my wife to get a green card + time it takes to get her brother here

OR

my brother-in-laws (in laws) to get a green card + time to get their daughter sponsored (he should just carry over because he is her husband right?)

Anyway any light on this issue would be very helpful

Thanks

Your wife can't sponsor or petition her brother. Even when she becomes a permanent resident, she can't petition for him. Only a USA citizen sister can petition for a brother. When she becomes a USA citizen, then she can petition for a Pakistani brother. Wait time in this visa caetgory would be around 9 years.

WHEN his wife's permanent resident parents become USA citizens -- then, they can petition for their married Paksitani daughter and her husband and kids. As permanent residents they can NOT petition for them yet. I hope this answers your questions.
