Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

F1/OPT and W9 form. Can I sign it?

I am student on F1 visa in NY, my OPT will start on July 24.

I recently got a letter from Citibank, they want me to sign a W9 form for my reward points (...).

It is a form for "Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification" to be signed by

US citizens, US resident aliens.... Since I was here for "183 days during the latest 3-year period" I fall within the resident alien category so I guess I can sign this BUT I wanted to double

check. I never would never want to do things that can jeopardize my status.

For the record, I do have a SS#.

Thanks

If one has a SSN, then they don't need a TIN.
