Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York
My Girlfriend who has a work Visa was planning on having her company sponsor her Green card but it is expensive and now we plan to get married. Our concern though is that I have been a stay at home dad and have a very low income as a musician. (Around 5,000 per year) I just got divorced from my previous marriage and was filing jointly with her. This year will be the first year that I file as single. On the promising side I own my own place worth $950,000 With a intra family loan of 130,000 (Interest only loan of 650 per month). I also have a good amount of savings $95,000 in liquid assets and $56,000 in Retirement. Other income that I have is Child Support for my 15 year old son of 760. per month and I also receive a 12,000 per year tax free gift from my wealthy mother. My GF has a good job where she earns about 40,000 per year. She is 40 years old and I am 46. Will I have any chance of sponsoring her?
