Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Interview taking longer than 3 years

I have applied for residency through marriage in July 2001, however my husband and I still haven't been called for the interview. At one point (November 2004)we received a letter scheduling the interview, but another letter came a week later cancelling the interview due to unforseen circumstances. After that we haven't heard/received any news from BCIS. The automated phone service informs that our documents were received and processed in March 2002 and that it takes about 24 months to be processed, but it has been over 3 years. Is there anything that can be done about this situation besides sitting and waiting? Thanks.

Re: Interview taking longer than 3 years

I suggest you go to the USCIS web site and make an appointment via Infopass to be referred to someone in the adjustment of status unit at 26 Federal Plaza. Hopefully, that will result in your case being rescheduled sooner rather than later even though there is no guarantee.
