Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

I have a sponsor who is willing to fill out an I-864 for my wife who is seeking adjustment of status. However after reading "mailing address" and "phone number" on the form he wants to know how much he really has to do.

Basically, I need to know how much contact and correspondence my sponsor will have to deal with. Does he receive any mail or phone calls, and if so, can I enter my address as the mailing address provided he grants me permission to do so?

Sponsor's obligations under the affidavit of support are legally binding and quite seriuos.

No, you can't enter your address and phone instead of sponsor's. He has to provide his address, phone, name, date of birth, SSN, most current tax returns, W2s, etc.

In addition, a sponsor is required to notify the USCIS of their address change.

You may want to review fine print (instructions) to the form I-864.
