Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

My 21yr old son has been unemployed for more than a month. He was only filling out one application every 10 days. I gave him an ultimatum-Find a full time job by the end of October or move out. He has only left the house 1 time in the past 11 days. He is not taking me seriously. Can I legally kick him out? Should I send him a certified letter with a deadline date on it?

Yes. You may legally evict him. You would revoke his "license" to stay in the house with a 30 day notice to terminate his license. The notice to terminate may be sent by certified mail, or, if you are located in the city of New York, you must serve the notice.

After the 30 day period you would be able to commence a landlord/tenant action to evict your son.
